August 25, 2026 - The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Magdeburg University Medical Center is once again among the top ten departments in the nationwide clinical rotation ranking. In 2026, it ranked 4th out of a total of 742 departments, improving on its position from the previous year. It is the only university medical center to make it into the top 10.
August 25, 2026 – On September 23, 2026, Jena University Hospital will host NeuroConnect. The continuing education event combines current expert presentations with interdisciplinary exchange and brings together experts from Jena, Magdeburg, and Chemnitz. Magdeburg University Medical Center is also represented by Prof. Dr. Daniel Behme as a speaker, thereby actively participating in the Central German dialogue on neurovascular medicine.
August 24, 2026 - Following a fire on a gastroenterology ward at Cracau Hospital, approximately 70 patients were safely evacuated within a very short time. One patient suffered smoke inhalation, and two others sustained minor injuries. Medical care remains available; the operating rooms, emergency room, and intensive care unit are still in operation. Parts of Ward B remain closed for the time being; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
August 24, 2026 - Chronic fatigue is one of the most debilitating symptoms associated with neurological disorders. In the “ReVita” study, Magdeburg University Medical Center is investigating a new, non-pharmacological treatment approach. MDR is following a participant with multiple sclerosis and highlighting just how much fatigue can dominate daily life. The segment begins at the 10:15 mark.
